Senior Property Accountant

Department: Accounting
Location: Atlanta, GA

The Senior Property Accountant position will oversee the maintenance of the fixed assets program, review and analyze property acquisition and dispositions, and assist in financial reporting of property results.

This role will be critical in developing a new reporting environment, and involves complex projects, data manipulation, and detailed analytics.

The role will validate the data, analyze contracts, and present it in a meaningful way to business users, partners, and investors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Maintaining the fixed asset module for business with over 4,000 of managed properties
  • Reviewing the depreciation and amortization schedule and assure detail matches with General Ledger balances
  • Work with the Transactions team in ensuring all acquisitions, dispositions and 1031 exchanges are properly recorded
  • Assist in maintaining accounting and operational databases and perform updates as necessary to ensure accuracy
  • Ensure data consistency and mitigate any data discrepancies between and among various reporting platforms
  • Work with accounting team to produce monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on third party management agreements
  • Communicate the results of data analysis in written and verbal form to managers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Business, or any other related fields
  • Strong and demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (advanced formula creation, pivot tables, filtering, sorting, setting proper data structure for formula efficiency) required;
  • Knowledge of Yardi and Yardi Fixed asset module is highly preferred
  • Excellent data management and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented and meticulous while working with large sets of data
  • Able to identify different types of trends and patterns by utilizing reconciliation techniques that ensure data integrity between reports
  • 3-5 years of experience within the real estate industry, residential or commercial, or related field

OTHER RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic understanding of Accounting and GAAP within real-estate field, and specialized knowledge of property accounting
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to effectively interpret and communicate information derived from data sets
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate high-level conceptual material

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Indoor, professional office setting
  • May sit or stand for several hours at a time; climb up and down stairs multiple times each day; and lift up to 30 lbs.
